To launch a new commercial for the 2013 Ford Mustang, the Dearborn-based automaker is taking advantage of YouTube, Facebook, and Google Plus. The new spot, called “Mustang Inner TV”, launched online today and will first be aired on TV during the Daytona 500 broadcast this Sunday.
Playing off the idea that Mustang owners like to customize their cars, the clip shows a 2013 Mustang driving through a busy city. As it passes various people, the car magically transforms to represent that person’s desires for a customized Mustang.
The new commercial is meant to work in tandem with the online customization tool launched in fall 2011, which lets web users customize their ideal version of 2013 Ford Mustang. “Mustang owners are unique, independent, and like their cars to reflect their personalities,” said Ford marketing communications manager Lee Jelenic said. “The customizer site and this [TV commercial] spot pay homage to that.”
All versions of the 2013 Ford Mustang receive a mild facelift that includes a restyled grille, narrower headlights, redesigned LED taillights, and various new option packages. New gadgets include optional Performance Meter gauges, special puddle lights that project a mustang logo on the ground, hill-start assist, and manual shift controls for cars with automatic transmissions. Ford also will expand availability of the Brembo Brake and V6 Performance packages to cars with automatic transmissions.
