The first trailer for Rush, the upcoming fact-based epic about Forumla 1 in the 1970s, is now available online. The clip features plenty of vintage race cars used for filming, as well as the sound of those cars racing on classic Grand Prix circuits.
Directed by Ron Howard, the film tells the story of the intense rivalry between Formula 1 drivers Niki Lauda and James Hunt in the 1970s. Rush stars Chris Hemsworth as Hunt and Daniel Brühl as Lauda, as well as Olivia Wilde and Alexandria Maria Lara. The film highlights the inherent danger of racing in the era, as well as the fierce competition between British driver Hunt and Austrian Lauda.
“Rush follows the two drivers as they push themselves to the breaking point of physical and psychological endurance, where there is no shortcut to victory and no margin for error. If you make one mistake, you die,” reads promotional material for the film.
Rush is in theaters September 20. It is rated R.
