In case you already forgot about the biggest debut of the Detroit auto show, Chevrolet has released another vide of the 2014 Corvette. In this clip, we have a brief chance to hear the sports car’s 6.2-liter LT1 V-8 engine as it tackles a race track.
The video doesn’t add much that we didn’t already know about the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette, offering only that the car is an “Enemy of the same” that is “engineered to defy convention.” Not that we’re complaining: any chance we get to see the new Stingray in motion is fine by us.
Eager buyers won’t get their hands on a new Corvette for some time, as the updated sports car starts production in Kentucky this fall. Even though buyer who spent $1 million to win the first customer car — VIN 0001 — at auction last month must wait until the fall for his Corvette.
The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette uses a new 6.2-liter V-8 engine with 450 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. Customers choose between a seven-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmission. The new Corvette adopts electric power steering, an aluminum frame, and a fuel-saving feature that allows the engine to run as a 3.1-liter V-4 in low-load situations.
This teaser video only shows the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette coupe that bowed last month in Detroit, but next month we can expect to see a convertible version in Switzerland. Chevrolet officials confirmed to us that a droptop Corvette will bow at the Geneva motor show in March.
