McLaren took the wraps off of its new 2013 MP4-12C Spider earlier this month, and now the British supercar maker has treated us to a video of the new droptop.
Not only do we get to watch the MP4′s retractable hardtop go through its motions, but we’re also treated to the exhaust of the McLaren’s twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-8. As a reminder, the Spider’s V-8 is good for 616 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque, a top speed of 204 mph, a 0-to-62-mph time of 3.1 seconds, and a quarter-mile time of 10.8 seconds. The Spider is also reasonably quick in stowing its roof: the two-piece top folds away in just 17 seconds.
In the video, a Volcano Red MP4-12C Spider flogs a winding track before hitting the undulating roads of Andalucía in the south of Spain. We can’t think of a better way to experience the wind-in-your-hair experience of the new MP4 Spider.
If you want to experience one for yourself, you’ll need to wait until the end of this year and start saving your pennies. The 2013 McLaren MP4-12C Spider will run a cool $268,250, including a $2500 destination charge.
