Ford took a daring chance with the 2013 Fusion – instead of keeping with the status quo of boring, vanilla midsize sedans, the new Fusion is a striking design that stands out in a crowd. To emphasize that fact, the automaker’s latest commercial shows off how the competition vanishes from sight behind the Fusion. Literally.
Ford is leveraging the new Fusion not only as the efficient choice in its class, but as the most stylish choice; the commercial points out that you need to “do something the world will actually notice.”
Notice we have, praising the Fusion for its Aston Martin-like design and fuel-efficient powertrains. Ford is offering the sedan with five different powertrain options, all of which utilize four-cylinders. The range starts with a 175-hp 2.5-liter I-4; the volume-leading 178-hp 1.6-liter turbocharged EcoBoost I-4; a 240-hp 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbo-four; and a hybrid and Energi plug-in hybrid both rated for 141 hp. The Fusion has also topped its segment for fuel economy, with the hybrid being rated at 47/47 mpg city/highway and the PHE earning a rating of 100 MPGe.
Pricing for the 2013 Fusion starts at $22,495 after destination with the 2.5, $25,290 with the 1.6, and $26,745 with the 2.0. Pricing for the Fusion Energi PHEV has yet to be announced, but the traditional hybrid starts at $27,995.
