I’m with Joe. The Matrix is a fine vehicle for its class – indeed, probably the most comfortable and useful – but it just doesn’t seem to offer decent value for the dollar. I’d be willing to ignore the typical-Toyota indifferent steering and somewhat lackluster cabin design (not to mention the snoozeworthy chassis personality and buzzy engine) if it were a better deal.
That said, it was surprisingly comfortable on the highway, and boasted a plush, cosseting ride that you don’t often find in cars of this size. If there’s one thing Toyota knows, it’s how to coddle Americans…
