After a one-year hiatus, Chrysler Group confirmed that it will return to leasing vehicles today.
“We are pleased to re-enter the leasing market so we can offer customers the opportunity to lease vehicles at rates competitive with the marketplace,” said Peter Fong, president and CEO of Chrysler brand.
“Our ability to offer additional financing options will benefit consumers who have long been fans of leasing and appreciate the flexibility this financing option gives them.”
Chrysler Group rejoins GM in offering leases, with GMAC as the preferred lender. Chrysler was forced to stop leasing vehicles last year after Chrysler Financial, Chrysler’s preferred lender at that time, was unable to secure credit. In its bankruptcy reorganization, the auto task force replaced Chrysler Financial with GMAC as Chrysler’s preferred lender.
Unlike GM, Chrysler will resume leasing on all of its models instead of on specific vehicles only. Chrysler is even offering special lease rates on six of its models through the end of September: Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Grand Caravan, Dodge Ram 1500, Dodge Journey, Jeep Wrangler, and Jeep Liberty.
