Chrysler is giving Mopar fans something to get excited about with the announcement that production of the new 426 Hemi V-8 crate engine begins this month. That engine is priced at $13,675 and will join a 2011 Dodge Challenger V-10 Drag Pak at the Performance Racing Industry show from December 9-11.
The all-aluminum V-8 crate engine is rated at 540 horsepower and 530 pound-feet of torque. Nine other new Mopar performance parts will be displayed at the show, from aluminum engine blocks for Hemi Gen III engines to a cold-air intake kit designed for 2008-2010 Challengers, Chargers, and Chrysler 300s with the 3.5-liter V-6 engine.
The 2011 Mopar Challenger V-10 Drag Pak will also get plenty of attention, we’re sure. Chrysler notes it is the first 500-plus cubic-inch V-10 drag race car available. In the Drag Pak Challenger, the 8.4-liter engine is mated to a two-speed automatic transmission and is built for sanctioned NHRA Stock and Super Stock configurations. Pricing begins at $85,512 before adding a roll cage, net, and harness, which adds $7795. Production begins early next year.
