Who wants to stand alone these days?; Chrysler apparently doesn’t, as it announced that it may partner with another automaker for its next midsize sedan.
The program, currently referred to as Project D, aims to replace the slow-selling Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger models.; While those cars use a platform co-developed with Mitsubishi, Chrysler says it’ll decide on a new partner within the next five months.
Who’s the mystery date?; Chrysler CEO Bob Nardelli confirmed the potential partners are automakers, but declined to name names.; He did, however, play up the potential for Project D to use alternative powertrain, perhaps the extended-range electric vehicle systems shown by the company earlier this month.
Though Chrysler is reportedly looking to improve the car from any possible perspective, it says Project D is a new type of vehicle development program, centered upon consumer feedback and research.

who ever they ally them selves with i still wont buy a chrysler.
i believe that chrysler would its self a big favor if it used the alfa romeo model or models for its next generation sebring replacement. change name to imperial and upscale to cadillac and lincoln competition. ref. 159 and gt. as for as the avenger, they could use the fiat linea. i believe along with the fiat 500 and others that chrysler and fiat will be a perfect marriage. the would have the vehicles to compete with anybody and do it now. chrysler should along with fiat make a diesel available in all models. with the right set up and using bio-diesel could compete with any hybrid. i believe another key for chrysler is to combine down to one dealership. they already have in many small communities. eliminate duplicate models and better define each brand in catagories. exp. chrysler upscaled, dodge mid and compact. jeep off road & sport utility and fiat to fill in the gaps. small cars etc. viper and challenger as specialty cars in dodge line along with trucks. small fiat trucks etc in the jeep line.
