Detroit’s Fox 2 caught ‘em, and now they’re gone. After reports surfaced of alcohol drinking and illicit smoking, Chrysler has dismissed 13 employees from its Jefferson North Assembly Plant.
The news station’s expose found a handful of plant employees consuming brown-bagged beverages and smoking questionable substances at a park neighboring the Jefferson North plant. The activities were done on work breaks but violate Chrysler’s code of conduct while throwing understandable concern on the plant’s manufacturing process. Two more workers were slapped with a month-long disciplinary suspension without pay.
The plant produces the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and will soon be home to the new Dodge Durango. President Barack Obama visited this facility on July 30 as part of a show of support for the domestic auto industry.
