Ferrari introduced its newest model, the 458 Italia, this year, but there’s still plenty of product in the pipeline, according to CEO Amedeo Felisa.

The folks at CAR were able to sit down with Felisa and discuss the company’s future products, as well as pick his brain on the new competitor from McLaren. “We like the challenge,” he said. “It is important to have the competition, but we are not worried about it — our culture is to do our own development.”

First up for development is a convertible version of the new 458 Italia. Felisa said he expects the Spyder to enter the market in 2011, sporting a cloth top, not a folding hardtop as seen on the California. Less certain, however, is a hardcore 458 in the style of the 430 Scuderia and 360 Challenge Stradale. Felisa tells CAR that it was “too early to develop plans for that model.”

Felisa did confirm a successor to the wild Enzo, which will likely hit the streets around the 2012 model year. Felisa dispelled the rumors surrounding a hybrid-powered flagship, although he confirmed the company is tinkering with hybrid systems and turbocharged engines. Such technologies, he claims, are more than four years away from road use.

Replacements for two other Ferraris — the 612 Scaglietti and 599 Fiorano — will launch between 2012 and 2015.
