Caught: BMW M6 Gran Coupe Spied Out And About

We’ve already seen the M-Sport version of BMW’s upcoming 6 Series Gran Coupe (photo) and now the M version has just been spotted. With BMW’s German rivals coming out with high performance versions of their four-door coupes, building an M6 Gran Coupe is a no-brainer.

No official details have been released yet, but there’s a 99 percent chance it’ll share most of its mechanical bits with the 2013 BMW M5, including the 4.4-liter, twin-turbo, direct-injected V8 that’s rated at 560 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. The seven-speed dual-clutch automatic should definitely make it here; we wouldn’t be surprised if cars bound for North America may also be fitted with a six-speed manual.. Expect to see the usual M car visual treatment such as wider fenders, quad exhaust tips, and beefier wheels. Obvious competitors are the Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG and Audi S7.

The M6 Gran Coupe is likely a year away from showing up in dealerships. First up is the M5, which is scheduled to arrive this spring, followed by the M6 coupe and the regular Gran Coupe, both of which make their debuts at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show this March.
