Talk about a coincidence. The official 75th anniversary of the Jaguar marque falls on September 23, 2010, which aligns almost perfectly with the start of the 2010 Goodwood Revival in England. To help kick off the event and celebrate Jag’s birthday, a special convoy, comprised of 75 historic Jaguar vehicles, will journey from London to Chichester.
Cars scheduled to make the 70-mile journey include Jaguars from all eras, including pre-war SS models, historic post-war race machines, and the latest machines the company has to offer. Of note, the convoy will include a number of E-Types, both a C- and D-type racer, an XKSS, an XK 120 S, several SS 2.5-liter sedans, and two 420 sedans from the late 1960s.
Most of the cars involved are privately owned by Jaguar aficionados, who — no doubt — will get a kick of the brand’s new trivia application for the Apple iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad. Dubbed Jaguar 75, the application gives users a thorough walkthrough of the company’s history, including a biography of founder Sir William Lyons, Jaguar‘s Le Mans racing program, special vehicle development, and other important milestones from history.
The historic Jaguar drive starts September 17 at the London May Fair hotel, the site of the original public launch of the SS 2.5-liter. The group will then drive from the hotel to the Goodwood Estate, where they will arrive the following day in time for the revival’s opening on the 18.
