The 2011 BMW Alpina B7 seems to be more than capable. Introduced at this year’s Chicago Auto Show, the B7 sedan boasts a massive 500 horsepower and 516 pound-feet from its modifed 4.4-liter V-8 — enough to strike terror into the combustion chambers of plenty other vehicles on the road while the car coddles its occupants in acclaimed 7 Series luxury. But when the roads get slick, all that power isn’t going to do a rear-wheel-drive vehicle a whole lot of good.
That’s where the 2011 BMW Alpina B7 xDrive comes in. With BMW’s intelligent all-wheel-drive system, the latest Alpina sticks to the street, even if that street is wet or snowy. As with the standard B7 (if you can call any Alpina “standard,” that is), both short- and long-wheelbase options will be available. Pricing hasn’t yet been announced, but you can expect the nominal xDrive premium to be tacked on for the premium of all-weather capability.
