DuPont gathers information for its global report from 11 regions including Europe, China, India, and Russia. In North America and globally, silver, white, black, and gray comprise the first four places of the top-10 chart. On both charts, red is the first non-neutral color below those listed above, followed closely by blue, brown/beige, green, and yellow/gold.

“Our annual global color analysis allows DuPont to share insights into global color trends with automakers as they’re planning future vehicle designs,” said Nancy Lockhart, DuPont color marketing manager.

Black has slowly been rising in popularity in North America, up 7 percent in 2010 compared to 2005. From 2009 to 2010, blue experienced the greatest global jump, accounting for 9 percent of vehicles in 2009 and only 5 percent in the 2010 report.

What do you think: will black become more popular than silver next year?
