Naming their baby girl "Kia" nets parents a new car.
U.K mom-to-be Samantha Smyth was headed to the hospital in her mother’s Kia Carens (that’s the Rondo, in the USA) for the birth of her baby, but they didn’t quite make it there in time, and she ended up giving birth in the back of the car. In honor of the unusual birthplace, the Smyth’s decided to name the little girl Kia, instead of the previously planned Tilley.
Kia Motors UK seized on the opportunity for a bit of feel-good publicity, and bestowed upon the Smyths a brand-new Kia Carens of their own. Said mom Samantha, “I’m just so chuffed.” Which must be British for “happy”.
