In an ad widely circulated on YouTube last week, a dyno-confined Lexus LFA shatters a champagne flute simply by accelerating to top speed. To prove its claim that no camera tricks or computer-generated imagery were used, Lexus has released a behind-the-scenes video.
In the video, Angella Johnson, from USC’s physics department, discusses the forces at work and the trial-and-error process that led to finding a glass with the right frequency. Also, Lexus hot shoe Scott Pruett talks about pushing the LFA to high speeds on the dyno.
