Audi RS5 Coupe and Cabrio to get 4.2-Liter V-8, 2011 A8 to Debut Later this Year
Audi will unveil its redesigned flagship toward the end of the year. The third-generation A8 will continue to use an all-aluminum structurethat saves weight compared to a conventional steel design. It will also be the first of a new styling language at Audi. Stadler told meeting attendees that the next A8 will be a “sensation.”
The high-performance RS5 will come in both coupe and convertible forms. It will be powered by a 4.2-liter V-8 similar to engine found in the RS4 and R8, although output is expected to rise. Car predicts the version in the RS5 will make 450-hp and 332 lb-ft and will propel the car to 60 mph in the 4-second range. It is expected to hit European dealers later this year.
If you are looking for a cross between an A4 Avant and an A5 coupe, you may be in luck. The low-slung, fastback A5 Sportback will debut in Europe later this year. It will be about as long as an A4 Avant and as wide as an A5 coupe. There has been no word on whether a version will be produced for the U.S. market.
