Pricing has been announced for the limited-edition Audi R8 GT Spyder. Just as with the coupe model, production for the convertible version of the R8 GT will be limited to 333 units worldwide, with only 50 of those planned for export to the U.S. Audi has priced the drop-top R8 GT at $211,200, including $1200 destination charge.
Audi says it trimmed 187.39 lbs from the R8 GT Spyder, using a magnesium engine frame and Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) in the side panels and soft-top compartment cover. The R8 Spyder gets a suspension with stiffer calibration, and is lowered 10 mm compared to the R8 V10 Spyder. Black is the only interior color choice, though customers get to choose from Titanium Gray or Crimson Red stitching. The Seat inserts, sport steering wheel, handbrake cover, and windshield frame are upholstered in Alcantara. Each R8 GT Spyder gets an individual vehicle number etched into the gear selector knob, similar to the one seen in the R8 GT coupe.
Standard features for the R8 GT Spyder include heated, power adjustable side mirrors, 10-way power adjustable sport seats, LED headlights, Audi navigation system, seven-speaker, 140-watt stereo system with six-disc CD changer, and Bluetooth connectivity with built-in seatbelt microphone. Like the fixed-roof R8 GT, the convertible model gets a 560-hp 5.2-liter V-10, R tronic six-speed sequential dual-clutch gearbox, and 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in summer tires. R8 GT Spyder customers can specify the optional Audi Music Interface, which replaces the CD changer and comes with an iPod cable. Other optional features include a 12-speaker, 495-watt Bang & Olufsen audio system, carbon-ceramic brakes, and forged aluminum 19-inch, split-five-spoke wheels.
Deliveries for the 2012 Audi R8 GT Spyder will begin later this month.
