What’s the next logical step for Audi to take with its sleek, two-door e-tron concept from this year’s Detroit auto show? Lop the top off, of course!
German publication Auto Bild is reporting an e-tron Spyder is heading to the Paris Motor Show. The Detroit e-tron (not the same as the Frankfurt version from 2009) is likely another stepping stone to the future R4.
Critically, the report says the e-tron Spyder runs on hybrid power. Two electric motors are capable of propelling the hybrid concept up to 31 miles on battery alone before the parallel system puts a 3.0-liter TDI V-6 to work. Like most hybrids, a continuously variable transmission will see playing time.
The e-tron Spyder taps the venerable R8 for its braking system, steering, and suspension, which is fitting to say the least.
