All-New Ford 6.7-Liter V-8 Power Stroke Diesel Ready for Production

2011 Ford F 250 Super Duty

Good news for Super Duty fans: Ford Motor Company announced today that it’s nearly ready to start producing its all-new Power Stroke Diesel.

The new 6.7-liter turbo-diesel V-8 engine is Ford’s first diesel designed completely in-house, and will be produced at Ford’s Engine Plant II in Chihuahua, Mexico. The new 6.7-liter has a few interesting tricks up its sleeve, including an unusual design that nestles the exhaust manifold and turbocharger in the valley between cylinder banks.

“We are proud and honored to add the production of the Power Stroke diesel V-8 to our production line,” said Enrique Araiza, manager of Ford’s Engine Plant II.

The Chihuahua plant will produce both the new Power Stroke diesel and a new 4.4-liter diesel engine that will be exported for use in Land Rover offerings. In total, the facility can produce approximately 200,000 engines annually.

I haven’t seen under the hood of one of these, but I from what i’ve heard about this new engine, I would hate to work on it.
