The 2015 Acura NSX may still be a few years out, but that hasn’t stopped Honda U.K. from taking pre-orders for the upcoming supercar. Right now, buyers across the pond can reserve their own all-wheel-drive, mid-engine hybrid two-door on Honda’s website for 5000 pounds (roughly $7643 U.S.).
Hondas U.K.’s managing director Phil Crossman said in a release that more than 20 deposits have been made already. Customers can also visit any U.K. Honda dealership in person to place their deposit. The NSX is still being developed at Honda Research and Development Americas, and is nowhere near entering production at Honda’s Marysville, Ohio facility. But taking pre-orders this far in advance isn’t unheard of. Apparently, there’s already a waiting list (perhaps for another waiting list) for the Lexus LF-LC, which hasn’t even been greenlit for production yet.
We reached out to Acura to find out if there’s a similar NSX pre-order list in the U.S.
“It’s far too early [for an ordering system]…The car is still in development,” said Acura spokesman Chuck Schifsky. “Once we get closer to launch, then of course we’ll be looking into something like that…Dealers and customers are very interested, but it’s too early in the U.S.”
So if you’re as antsy to get your hands on the first NSX as Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno, you’ll have to wait – or move to the U.K.
