The Saturn brand may be history, but there are still many vehicles left languishing on dealer lots. The solution: Offer incentives on the leftover vehicles to deplete inventories.

GM is currently offering $4000 cash back or zero-percent financing for up to 72 months on all 2008 and 2009 Saturn models. An additional $1000 loyalty bonus has been extended, and is available only to those who have leased or owned a Saturn for the last six months or longer.

GM Spokesman John McDonald told Automotive News that there are roughly 10,000 unsold Saturns remaining at dealers across the U.S. Some dealerships claim they have a 5-month supply of vehicles remaining on their lots. Sales have reportedly dramatically slowed since the failed Penske takeover of the brand, but compared to 2008, Saturn sales had already dropped 62 percent for the first nine months of 2009.
