Infiniti M35 Hybrid Announced

Along with its new-for-2011 M, Infiniti has just announced that it will offer an M35 hybrid.
The all-new M is due to arrive in dealers next spring; Infiniti has said the hybrid version will be launched as a 2012 model. The M35 hybrid is on course be the first green offering from the Japanese automaker.

The hybrid power plant was developed completely in-house by Infiniti's parent company Nissan. Power is derived by a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 mated to an electric motor.
The electric motor can assist during heavy acceleration and work on its own on low-speed city routes.  A laminated battery packs twice the punch as a similar sized unit. The new laminated battery pack technology lowers operating temperatures, increasing reliability.

Western European countries will also be offered a diesel option to compliment the new M. We could be so lucky.

The design of the new M varies slightly from the outgoing model, primarily in the sheet metal.  All we have are exterior images for now. Will we see this at the 2009 Tokyo motor show?  We sure hope so. Check back, as more details are sure to arise closer to the show.
