Danica Patrick, arguably the most recognized driver in the IndyCar series, has just agreed to extend her contract with Andretti Racing for another three years

Patrick, who is presently fifth in the series, is on track to finish the 2009 season at her highest ever. In her rookie season in 2005, Patrick finished twelfth, and has continued to climb the ranks ever since. Outright victories, however, are somewhat elusive (her sole victory came last April at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit in Japan), although she did manage to finish third at this year’s Indianapolis 500.

Although she’s signed the contract with Andretti, Patrick reportedly remains interested in making a foray into NASCAR, possibly via the Nationwide or Truck Series circuits.
