The iOn, which will be sold through Peugeot dealers by the end of 2010, is little more than a badge-engineered i MiEV. Although Peugeot claims the electric microcar was developed in partnership with Mitsubishi (which also supplies facelifted Outlanders for the firm’s 3008 crossover), there’s little to discern the two models, apart from emblems, bumper skins, and the snazzy wheels.
Like the i MiEV, Peugeot’s iOn uses a 64-hp motor to power the rear wheels, and thanks to a lithium-ion battery pack, has a maximum range of 80 miles on a single charge.
