Lotus Launches Supercharger Kits for Elise, Exige Models

For those who purchased a base Lotus Elise or Exige only to wish for more power, you’re in luck. Instead of buying a whole new car to attain forced-inducted power, owners can now purchase a supercharger kit from Lotus itself.

The kit, which bolts onto the 1.8-liter I-4 found in non-supercharged Elise and early Exige models, is virtually identical to the supercharger found in the Elise SC. After adding the blower, its integrated intake manifold, high-flow fuel injectors, and a modified engine computer, power will be boosted from 189 hp and 133 lb-ft of torque to 218 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque.

Best of all, the supercharger is completely warranted by Lotus, and is emissions-compliant in all 50 states. Pricing hasn’t been announced, but expect the kit to be sold and installed by Lotus dealers across North America.

2. Lotus. There are enough Elise/Exige-specific parts on this motor to flummox your local Toyota service shop...
