Speculation surrounding the Hyundai Equus reaching the American market continues to grow, as Automotive News reports the company’s flagship sedan will arrive in U.S. showrooms by the summer of 2010.

One hundred examples of the Equus, a luxury sedan that’s slightly larger than the Genesis, have been imported to test customer and dealer reaction. According to Automotive News, response has been so positive that Hyundai plans on offering the car to consumers next year. Hyundai representatives, however, say no final decisions have been made on the car’s future in America.

Still, dealers who have seen the car seem to heap praise upon it. “It’s an incredible car,” says Rick Case, who owns six Hyundai franchises. “It won’t be a big volume for us; it will be a halo car for the brand.”

While the Genesis is stacked against the likes of the Lexus ES and BMW 5-series, the Equus would compete with the high-end Lexus LS and BMW 7-series models. A source tells Automotive News that pricing would likely hover around the $60,000 mark, allowing the Equus to undercut the LS460’s base price of $64,700.
