LA County Sheriff's Department Gets Mini E Fleet

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department will be given a fleet of 17 electric Minis for virtually nothing, as Mini seeks testers of its new technology.

The L.A. County Board of Supervisors approved the plan to lease the Minis on Tuesday.  Mini will provide 17 of its electric cars, charging the department just $10 per month as a processing fee for the fleet.  In return, the Sheriff's Department will provide feedback on how the Minis drive and handle on Los Angeles County roads.  Individuals leasing the same Minis, in comparison, are asked to shell out $850 per month.

If you live in L.A. County, don't be worried about these Minis pulling you over anytime soon.  They will not replace the county's fleet of Ford Crown Vics, Chevy Caprices, and Dodge Chargers.  They will mainly be used in specialized units for recruitment, volunteers, and administrative offices, according to department spokesman Steve Whitmore.

1. Don't give those crooks any breaks! The entire city of Los Angeles is so incompetently run, that the councilmembers make over six figures for showing up 3 days a week, and every year, the city goes deeper and deeper into debt, and the school dropout rate keeps climbing. $10 a month is outrageous.
