Although the fate of Saturn is still up in the air, there's one point both Penske Automotive and General Motors can agree upon: The brand will withdraw from the Canadian market.

Penske and GM have agreed to close all remaining Saturn dealerships in Canada by the end of 2009. GM spokesperson Stew Low told Automotive News that "after careful and thorough analysis, it was determined that the business case did not support distribution of Saturn vehicles in Canada." Although Canada only witnessed a 16 percent drop in light vehicle sales through July, Saturn saw its Canadian sales fall by nearly 50 percent.

Although approximately 30 Canadian Saturn dealers were already closing their doors, this new announcement affects an additional 46 dealerships in the country. Saturn will transfer its parts, warranty, and customer service departments to other GM dealerships.
