Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé is Official Pace Car for 2009 Goodwood Festival

Rolls-Royce has loaned the Goodwood Motor Circuit a 2009 Phantom Coupé for use as the official pace car at the 2009 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The Phantom Coupé to be used as the course car will also be used by the Track Stewards Team to lead parade laps and perform other tasks at Goodwood.  The Phantom Coupè was chosen because it is the most sporting model in Rolls-Royce’s lineup.

“The Phantom Coupè is the most driver oriented car in the Phantom range and was therefore the natural choice for the Goodwood Motor Circuit,” said Tom Purves, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.  “The loan is a natural extension of the association between Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and the Goodwood Estate.”

The Goodwood Festival of Speed plays host to thousands of cars and visitors every year.  It features some of the greatest competition cars and drivers of all time, some of which participate in the hillclimb.  This year, Lewis Hamilton will be driving the 1988 McLaren-Honda MP4/4 turbo, as driven by Ayrton Senna, up the famous hill.
