First 2010 Audi R8 V-10 in the U.S. sells for $500,000

At the Boca Raton Concours d' Elegance over the weekend, the first U.S.-bound 2010 Audi R8 V-10 was auctioned off to raise money for charity. When the gavel fell the R8 had raised $500,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County.

The supercar has an expected MSRP of at least $150,000. The R8's Product Manager, Chas Murphy, was at the event to auction off the car.  Audi of America was so impressed by the interest in the car, that a second R8 V-10 was offered up and sold that evening. Also auctioned off was the first Ferrari California which sold for $350,000.

The lucky winning bidder for the first R8 V-10 in the U.S. also receives an official certificate of authenticity. The car will be built at Audi's Neckarsulm, Germany, facility. The first wave of R8 V-10s are expected to roll into dealers in early 2010.
