Nissan announced pricing of its all-new Cube today, as it unveiled a previously unseen version of the boxy compact at the 2009 Chicago Auto Show.

The Cube 1.8 will start at $13,990 in 1.8 guise.  Every Cube is equipped with a 122-hp 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine and Nissan's Xtronic continuously variable transmission.  Nissan claims the cube is good for 30 mpg on the highway.

Nissan's Cube will also be available in three other trims: 1.8 S, 1.8 SL and 1.8 Krom.  The 1.8 Krom, shown for the first time today at the Chicago Auto Show, includes all standard features of the 1.8 S while adding a unique grille and front bumper, front and rear fascias, body sills, spoiler, 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, and a Krom badge.  Inside, Krom models get Bluetooth, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, black and gray seat cloth, an upgraded stereo system with a Rockford Fosgate subwoofer, iPod compatibility, aluminum trimmed pedals, automatic temperature control, and interior trim accents.

Nissan says it will have over 40 individual accessories, including a 20-color interior illumination kit, "shag carpeting" instrument panel inserts, and aerodynamic body kits.

A "Reserve Your Cube" program allowing potential customers to research and reserve a cube to their liking will begin later this month, following the release of full cube model and options pricing.
