French automaker Peugeot gave us a little taste of its future crossover at last year's Paris motor show, when they debuted the Prologue Hybrid 4 concept.  Now, only a few months later, they have released detailed information and photos of the production version: the 2009 Peugeot 3008.

The 3008 is a small crossover which will compete with the Nissan Qashqai.  When it launches in Europea at the end of the year, five engine options will be available: two 2.0-liter diesels, a 1.6-liter diesel, and two 1.6-liter gasoline engines.  Four gearboxes will be available, including a six-speed manual, a six-speed automatic, a six-speed electronically controlled manual, and a five-speed manual.

A hybrid version of the 3008 will appear sometime between the initial launch of the non-hybrid vehicle and 2011.  The Hybrid 4 technology, which was shown on the Paris concept, includes a 2.0-liter diesel engine and an electric motor.  According to Peugeot, the combination represents a 35 percent reduction in emissions and fuel consumption.

As we said back in September, expect to see the 3008 make its official production debut at the 2009 Geneva auto show.
