The EPA's rating of 41 mpg in the city is better than Ford's estimated 39 mpg, but the highway rating of 36 mpg is one lower than estimated. We expect numbers to be identical for the Mercury Milan Hybrid. If so, both cars will achieve an impressive range of 700 miles on a single tank of gas.
"The Ford team set the bar high - to develop America's most fuel efficient mid-size sedan - and that's what they delivered" said Derrick Kuzak, group vice president, Global Product Development.
The Milan and Fusion Hybrids are able to travel at speeds up to 47 miles per hour in pure electric mode which-according to Ford-is faster than all other hybrids currently on the road. Thanks to the Hybrid's SmartGauge with EcoGuide Ford claims that some automotive journalists were able to exceed 50 mpg on an urban drive loop.
The most fuel efficient mid-size car in America will be available this spring for a base price close to $25,000.
