Nissan NV2500 Concept Previews Future Van

It's been a while since we heard Nissan was interested in commercial vans, but the NV2500 concept, slated for a debut at the 2009 Detroit auto show, is a preview at an upcoming cargo hauler expected in 2010.

While the PR folks at Nissan call this a 'sketch,' it's fairly clear that they simply ran a photograph through a Photoshop filter - meaning you're looking at the concept in all its splendor.  Though it's not what we'd call gorgeous, it is rather unique.   Designers may have hoped the long, powerful hood tied the NV2500 to the Titan pickup, but the overall profile of the concept reminds us of the first-generation Ford Transit.

Little is known about the concept or Nissan's van range, save for the fact that Nissan's trademarked the NV2500 name, along with NV1500 and NV3500.  Can we expect half-, three-quarter, and one-ton vans from Nissan?  We'll know more come January, when the NV2500 is rolled out at the Detroit show.  Stay with Automobile Magazine for all the latest news surrounding the NV2500 and the other Detroit debuts.
