Longtime fans of the Dodge Viper will be happy to learn that the 2013 SRT Viper is paying tribute to its forbears – this time in the form of a special Launch Edition version. Set to make its debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance festivities this weekend, the SRT Viper Launch Edition wears blue paint and white racing stripes that mimic the color schemes of Dodge Viper models launched in 1996 and 2006.
The 2013 Launch Edition cars wear GTS Blue paint and dual Bright White racing stripes, the latter available only on Launch Edition cars. This version of the 2013 SRT Viper wears polished five-spoke aluminum wheels, while the interior has a blend of Black Laguna leather, black Alcantara, and Satin Silver trim pieces. The interior also has a special plaque engraved with the car’s build number and VIN. There’s one more piece of exclusivity for Viper Launch Edition buyers: the car’s Stryker badges, which usually have gray backgrounds, have a blue background.
Beneath the carbon-fiber and aluminum body, the Launch Edition cars are identical to any other 2013 SRT Viper. That means an 8.4-liter V-10 engine produces 640 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque, with power directed to the rear wheels by a six-speed manual transmission.
“The 2013 SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition model brings back the classic paint schemes that have adorned all previous Viper coupe launches,” SRT CEO Ralph Gilles said in a statement. Check out the past Viper-launch paint jobs in the gallery below, along with the 2013 car.
The 2013 SRT Viper Launch Edition will be shown this Friday at the Quail Lodge in Monterey, California, before being shown publicly at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Saturday and Sunday.
