Beginning in 2011, General Motors’ plant in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, will have yet another product: the 2011 Buick Regal.

Initially, early 2011 Regals will be imported from Germany, where the car is built under the auspices of Opel. Beginning in the first quarter of 2011, GM will shift production of the U.S.-spec car to the Oshawa plant. According to the Canadian Auto Workers, the advent of the Regal will help restore approximately 600 jobs at the Oshawa facility.

“The new Regal gives Buick a modern performance sedan, and its production here in Oshawa is terrific news for our employees, the Canadian Auto Workers, dealers, and suppliers,” said Arturo Elias, president of GM Canada.

Currently, the Oshawa plant produces the Chevrolet Impala and Camaro, the latter forcing the plant to run in overtime in order to meet demand. GM will also build the 2011 Camaro Convertible at the plant, fulfilling part of its commitment to the CAW to add production of five new vehicles at Canadian plants.
