Jaguar revealed this teaser image and a few details on the 2010 XJ. Although the picture doesn’t show much, the company’s flagship is in for a major redesign.
The details mention the addition of a panoramic glass roof which is clearly visible from the picture. Also mentioned is the all-new XJ will be the first to feature the next-generation of Jaguar’s aerospace-inspired aluminum body architecture. It will be available in both long and short wheelbases. Power will come from a range of engines including the 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 found in the 2010 XFR and XKR and could even include an extended-range electric powertrain by 2011.
It wouldn’t take Nostradamus to predict that the styling of the big cat will be influenced by the smaller XF. The traditional British styling of the car will be replaced with something more inline with Jag’s latest design language. Look no further than the front of the car in this shot for evidence. Notice the shape of the hood and the angle of the front end.
For the full details, however, we’ll have to wait until the car’s official revealing on July 9th in London. European markets are expected to get the latest XJ in their dealerships by the end of the year. It will launch in North America sometime in early 2010.
