It’s inevitable: sooner or later, every retro-styled muscle car will be offered up in a number of different “special edition” models, most attempting to trigger memories of the days of large displacement engines. The folks at Chrysler have turned to digging through their library of eye-catching (and eye searing) exterior colors to drum up interest — the latest example, launched here in Chicago, is the “Furious Fuchsia” Challenger.
Chrysler says the hue is patterned after a “High Impact” color offered in 1970, which was called “Panther Pink” (or “Moulin Rouge” on Plymouth models). Although the new color is still nowhere as pink as the original paint, it does grab your attention — especially when highlighted with the R/T Classic’s white stripes.
Furious Fuchsia will be available on both R/T Classic and SRT8 variants of the Challenger, starting at $35,140 and $45,150, respectively. Dealers will begin taking orders next month, but the first of these hot pink Challengers won’t be built until May.
