Ever wish Acura would produce a TSX station wagon? If so, they’ve answered your call with this: the 2009 Honda Accord Tourer.
Well, they’ve almost answered your call. Though the smaller, sportier sedan known as the Accord outside of North America came here as the TSX, the new wagon version likely won’t. After all, we haven’t seen a Honda wagon sold here in the States for more than a decade, and we’re fairly certain this bodystyle wouldn’t fit too well in Acura’s present lineup.
Still, we can’t help but become intrigued by the Accord Tourer. Using the same 2.5-liter I-4 powertrain found in its four-door sibling, the wagon offers seating for five and 14.3 cubic feet of cargo space – nearly half that of the Acura RDX crossover. We’d argue it looks good, too – most of the TSX’s sharp lines carry over unchanged, and the available sport style package include larger alloy wheels, a custom chin spoiler, and a black chrome-plated grille.
Sad we may be that this wagon won’t cross the pond for our enjoyment, we do also understand why importing the Tourer is unlikely. We like wagons plenty, but North Americans prefer SUVs, and as such, Honda and Acura would rather you look at a Pilot or MDX should you feel the need for cargo space.
